Current projects

  • Planning and leading the maintenance and ongoing development of Nature Regina’s native plant garden at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. The garden, a partnership with the museum, is a showcase for annuals, perennials and shrubs native to Saskatchewan. The garden is maintained by Nature Regina volunteers and is always open to the public.

  • Planning, development and maintenance of the Peace Garden at Knox Metropolitan United Church in Regina, Saskatchewan. This garden began as a partnership between the church and Peace Quest. It occupies 5000 square feet in a highly visible area of the city’s downtown. Plantings are a combination of native and introduced perennials, grasses, shrubs and trees. It is organically maintained and features plants selected for their value to pollinators and other beneficial insects and birds, as well as for their beauty. For a video of the garden, go to: https://youtu.be/TsRhnmX_-CA

  •  Planning, creation and maintenance of a food forest in Regina. The food forest is part of the existing Art Park managed by the Heritage Community Association. Some funding is provided by the Every Bite Project through revenue received from sales of the book Every Bite Affects the World, by Catherine Verrall. This is a community based volunteer project. The food forest includes fruit trees and shrubs, and a number of native and introduced herbs. Local people have free access to the organic food produced in the park. The space is also a pollinator garden, and an attractive place for people to relax.

  •  Leading the design and planting of a new pollinator garden in Lakeview Park in Regina. The project is overseen by the Lakeview Community Association and city of Regina as part of an upgrade of the entire park. Planning and design work for the pollinator garden began in 2025. Planting of approximately 500 native perennials will occur in 2026, with the plants provided by Nature Regina seed starters.

  • Providing consulting and design services to private clients. This involves assessing the property and determining with the client how to create nature-friendly and beautiful spaces using primarily native plants but also those introduced plants that are of value to pollinators and birds.
